A few dedicated bulldog fanciers formed the Bulldog Club of America in 1890 and it was incorporated under the laws of the State of New York in 1904. The Bulldogger, the Club's journal, is published quarterly to further interest in the Bulldog breed, and to give recognition to individuals and events of interest. It is also mailed to all licensed Bulldog judges as an educational tool. Bulldogs were the fifth most popular purebreed in the United States in 2013, according to the American Kennel Club.
